Other mesh communities

Every one of these is run by people like us. Regional settings differ, so check theirs before you travel, and do not copy another region's frequency onto a radio you use here.

Meshtastic

Same radios and firmware as us. Different part of the map.

• Meshtastic

  The project itself: firmware, apps and the official documentation.

• Bay Area Mesh

  San Francisco Bay Area. Runs MediumFast slot 45, the channel we treat as our alternate, and our brokers bridge to each other.

• MtnMe.sh

  Wrote up their move from LongFast to MediumFast slot 45 in detail.

• MSP Mesh

  Twin Cities, Minnesota. Also on MediumFast slot 45.

• Puget Mesh

  Seattle and Puget Sound. A substantial configuration guide, covering their LongFast default and their alternates.

• Colorado Mesh

  Statewide across Colorado. They used to be DenverMesh.

• Freq51

  Utah and Idaho. MediumFast, but on slot 51, which is a good reminder to check the slot and not just the preset.

• Are You Meshing With Us

  Florida, with a well-kept directory of regional LoRa settings.

• Mesh Brisbane

  Australia. Same preset names, quite different frequencies. MediumFast slot 45 lands near 926 MHz there, not 913.

MeshCore

MeshCore is a different mesh project with its own firmware. A MeshCore radio and a Meshtastic radio cannot interoperate, since neither one can decode or relay the other's traffic. That makes these neighbors rather than the same network. Worth reading, not worth flashing onto your node by mistake. A few of us do play around with MeshCore on its default settings, but the great majority of this group is on Meshtastic.

• West Coast Mesh

  A MeshCore community here on the west coast, running settings of their own rather than the defaults. Their wiki is worth reading even if you run Meshtastic.

Projects we rely on

None of these are ours. Our map, the parrot in our Discord and the tool a lot of us use to work out what is reaching what are all somebody else's open source work, and this network would be a poorer thing without them. Thank you to everyone who builds and maintains them.

• meshview

  The software behind our live map at meshview.socalmesh.org. We run our own instance of it.

• Rage Against the Meshine

  The project behind the parrot, the bot that echoes what it hears on the mesh into our Discord.

• MeshSense

  Connects to your own node over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and shows you nodes, signal reports and traceroutes. The clearest way to see who is reaching whom.
